Delbert Arthur McCanse was born May 19, 1888 in Pomeroy, Garfield County, Washington, the son of James Arthur McCanse and Margaret "Maggie" Catherine Williams. He was raised in the McCanse farming tradition that traced back through Missouri and Washington Territory.
