From an engine room to the first commercial reactors
Motor Machinist's Mate first class on a landing craft in the Mediterranean, then the GI Bill, then the control rooms of the world's first commercial boiling water reactors.
He came home to the GI Bill, took a mechanical engineering degree at Washington State in 1951, and went to the plutonium reactors at Hanford — then to GE San Jose, the team starting up the world's first commercial boiling water reactors.
He published with the IAEA in 1963 and holds US Patent 3,195,930, filed from Latina, Italy, where he was starting up the Garigliano reactor.
He married Sheila Bernice McCanse on 26 November 1947. They had ten children.
