Robert Joseph Ascherl

Robert Joseph Ascherl was born September 10, 1923 in Webster City, Hamilton County, Iowa, the son of Joseph Anton Ascherl and Threasia Mary Geis. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard an LCI (Landing Craft, Infantry) — specific vessel and campaigns unconfirmed. After the war he enrolled at Washington State University on the GI Bill, earning a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 1951.
