Maria Landshut

Maria Landshut was born around 1838, believed to be in or near Štokov (Stockau), West Bohemia. The "We Remember Tante Katie" memoir provides a striking account of her origins: she and her brother Michael were orphans, found by a kindly gentleman in the town of Landshut, Germany, who adopted them and gave them the surname "Landshut." Her brother Michael later became an officer in the Austrian Army.
